Honda to Gradually Restore North American Plants Amid Easing Nexperia Tensions
Honda Motor Co. will resume regular production at its North American plants next week after a three-week disruption caused by semiconductor shortages linked to Nexperia. The automaker has secured alternative chip supplies, allowing phased restarts in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
Operations at Mexico's Celaya plant, which produces the HR-V SUV, were suspended on October 28. Honda cautions that the timeline remains fluid due to ongoing U.S.-China trade tensions and Dutch export restrictions affecting Nexperia, a Wingtech Technology subsidiary critical for ECU components.
